THE MOLE: a useful measure of tiny particles, atoms, ions, etc.
Why are we using this? Primarily throughout the year we will be using it to go back and forth from paper theory to lab practicality. We always talk and hypothesize about what is going to happen first, then we need useful weights and measures to test that hypothesis in the lab.
This also bridges the gap between talking about and discovery about how single atoms interact, to useful quantities.

OBJ: 1. define and use the concept of a mole for representing quantities
2. use the mole concept to calculate the number of atoms, ions, or molecules in a sample of material
3. be able to express formula mass
